Sooo, I am super excite for this upcoming week. I have 2 videos to shoot tomorrow that I will upload throughout the week. My update vlog will be uploaded tomorrow (fingers crossed) and I have a super yummy snack idea video that I will be posting a few days later. So keep your eyes peeled!
I wanted to take a minute though and talk about overcoming obstacles. Sometimes we face true obstacles, and other times we create them to make excuses. Let me explain the difference. My stress fracture from running was a true obstacle – one that proved too great for me and eventually derailed my weight loss efforts. An example of an obstacle that is more in my head would be housesitting.
If you’ve watched my videos you will know that I am a pet sitter. My pet sitting company also offers housesitting, or as I like to call them – “overnight stays”. So picture staying at a house that isn’t your own for anywhere from 3-10 days or more, and not only being surrounded by food that might tempt you, but also having the added inconvenience of having to lug all your crap (healthy food, clothes, camera, makeup, etc) to this house. Now imagine doing that very thing just about every weekend.
Don’t get me wrong. I love pet sitting and house sitting, it makes me sooo happy guys – for real.
But the bummer is that I might be staying at a house filled with junk food, or with *gasp* no wifi! It definitely can put a damper on trying to live a healthy lifestyle, but I choose to avoid using it as an excuse to slip up.
I am actually housesitting at this very moment (thank god for wifi – woot!) and I realized yesterday that I would have to do my meal prep here. Thankfully I realized this in the middle of the grocery store so I could get all my stuff, lol. Part of me seriously didn’t want to deal with the hassle of not only lugging bags full of groceries to a house that I would have to lug them home from 2 days later, but also I would have to grab all my staples I’d need from home so that I could cook. Bleh. Not fun!
I conceded after all and tried to see the bright side. The bright side being I could cook my meals for the week in a wicked awesome kitchen and actually have room to work for once! I decided that as much of a pain in the ass as it would be, it would be a bigger pain in my derriere if I didn’t have lunches for the week. I got busy and tonight I cooked super healthy and delicious meals, and they turned out to be the tastiest ones I have put together yet!
There is roasted balsamic chicken, quinoa, roasted broccoli, onions and red peppers, and cauliflower mashed fauxtatoes packed into this container. That’s a HUGE lunch!
I also have to shoot my videos here for the upcoming week, but it really wasn’t that big of a deal to grab my camera bag and my tripod. In fact I think it might be easier to shoot here than at home – well except for the fact that I will probably have a dog crawling all over me the entire time… at least it will make for an entertaining vlog. 😉
The point I am trying to make is don’t give in to the temptation of being lazy when an obstacle presents itself. If it is a true obstacle don’t beat yourself up over it, but if something comes up that might make your diet or lifestyle a little more challenging don’t give up! Trust me, you’ll be even more proud of yourself when you push through and do well in spite of what life throws at you!
